Calayan, Cagayan

The Uncharted Territory in Cagayan

A tranquil escape where the day drifts by, Calayan Island is a secluded, sparsely populated town in Cagayan province that has maintained its enigma. Surrounded by the emerald green waters of the Philippine Sea, a jaunt to the tiny island is not for the faint of heart and travel would take at least a day with transits to different islands.

But like any journey, the reward in in the end is always worth it. This underrated destination is not your typical touristy vacation as there are neither luxury hotels here nor fixed itineraries. Instead, its main draw is in the island’s epic caves, mountain-fringed beaches, jagged rock formations and rolling hills.

Make sure to tick off your bucket list places like Sibang Cove, Nagudungan Hills, Lussok Cave, Bataraw waterfalls, and Malangsi Falls for a well-spent stay in the island.
